Parent Portal

Posted on 15 Feb 2024

Coming soon: Parent Portal

During term 1 we are rolling out a new Parent Portal, a secure online platform used to share student information between you and your child’s teachers.

Using the Parent Portal on your mobile phone, tablet or computer, you will be able to:

  • notify us if your child is sick or explain an absence
  •  book parent-teacher interviews
  • receive academic reports
  • receive our school newsletter
  •  receive messages from your child’s teachers
  • make payments
  • access the school calendar and your child’s student timetable.

One of the many benefits of the Parent Portal is that it will be used by all ACT public schools from preschool through to year 12, so there will be no need to use a different system as children change schools during their public-school journey. If you have children at nearby schools you will not need to sign up to the system twice. You will be able to easily add a student to your account once their school has access to the Parent Portal.

Sign up now

To access the portal, you will need to create or have access to an ACT Government Digital Account. You can sign up now and complete the level 2 identity verification process to get ready for our launch this term.

To complete the identity verification process you will need one of the following:

  • Driver's licence
  • Australian Passport
  • Birth certificate
  • Australian citizenship certificate
  • Change of name certificate
  • Marriage certificate
  • ImmiCard
  • Australian visa
  • Medicare
  • Centrelink Concession Card

Visit the ACT Digital Account website to create your account: https://www.myaccount.act.gov.au/

If you have any issues with creating your account and completing your level 2 identity verification you can get in contact with ACT Digital Account to resolve by calling 13 22 81.

You will receive an email in term 1 with an access code to link your existing account to your child’s records. If you have any questions, please contact Student Services at DETStudentservices@act.gov.au.

For more information about Parent Portal, visit the Education Directorate website: https://www.education.act.gov.au/public-school-life/parent-portal.

The team from Authentic School Portraits will be at Cranleigh School the week of the 27th February to 3rd March to capture school photos!  Authentic School Portraits have been in touch to introduce themselves and tell you a little about what they do and provide tips on what you can do in preparation. School Photos

The team from Authentic School Portraits will be at your child's centre the week of the 27th February to 3rd March to capture school photos! We thought we'd get in touch to introduce ourselves, tell you a little about what we do and provide tips on what you can do in preparation.

Who are we?

We are a Canberran team of highly professional and skilled portrait photographers with over ten years of individual experience photographing children. Janet, Steph, Mallie, Kim and Robin are your children’s friendly photographers, and they are accompanied by Ben, Danielle and Hannah - our team co-ordinators.

Janet and Steph both run highly regarded and successful children and family photography businesses here in Canberra! Their studio is in Macgregor. It's our mission to bring the knowledge and principles from family photography to school portraits while giving families gorgeous, authentic photos of their children that they will treasure for years. Hence, “Authentic School Portraits”!

What can you expect about the process for viewing and purchasing your children’s school photos?

If you would like your child to be photographed during photo week, please pre-register your information and interest with us here: https://form.typeform.com/to/j893gDJt

Note that all children attending in photo week will still be photographed to provide the school with use of a database photo and that by registering you are not committing to purchasing a photo.

If you do not pre-register, your child will only be photographed for inclusion for an internal database photo.

We aim to capture a range of photos by interacting with your child through play-based methods that capture real and authentic smiles! While we don’t always get every kid to smile as some kids do not take to strangers quickly, we do our best to engage and interact with children through these play-based methods.

What can you do in preparation?

Some parents have questions surrounding how to help us capture the best photos possible, and we've got a couple of tips for you before you send your child off to school on photo day. You can find those all at the link below under 'FAQ for Parents'.

We're looking forward to photographing your children!

The Board meets a minimum of four times a year and  we have vacancies for two parent, one staff and one appointed board member.  Please contact Penny Price via email (penny.price@ed.act.edu.au) for a nomination form, noting nominations close COB Monday 20 February.
