We try to involve parents as much as possible and see our programs as a collaborative effort. Parent/Teacher meetings are held regularly and parents are encouraged to visit the school and are welcome to participate in school activities and assist in classrooms. Teachers frequently extend their teaching strategies into the homes to improve consistency across settings and improve generalisation.
Staff and parent involvement in decision making is also encouraged with the intention of developing participation and a sense of ownership. We try to create a positive, respectful atmosphere in the school, with non aversive solutions to student management issues.
These contributions are used to purchase equipment and supplies to supplement the school's educational programs. The School Board sets the rate for each year. Voluntary contributions may be made in full, or by installments, or in part.
Section 27 of the Education Act of 2004 states that:
each contribution must be voluntary
a child is not to be refused benefits or services because the child's parents do not make a contribution
a child is not harassed for contributions
any record of contributions is confidential
